GRUR Annual Meeting 2017 - Hamburg, 27-30 September

As readers know, JIPLP actively collaborates with GRUR (the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property) and its editorial team to increase the exchange of IP knowledge in Europe and beyond. Thus, we are happy to share news of GRUR's annual meeting, which will take place in Hamburg from 27 to 30 September 2017. The Regional Group North of the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR) cordially invites you to this year´s GRUR Annual Meeting in Hamburg at Hotel Grand Elysée from 27 to 30 September 2017!  
The main programme with its working sessions includes a mix of IP research, law-making and practice as well as vivid discussions among academics, judges, practitioners, representatives of industry and institutions such as the European Commission, the German Federal Court of Justice, WIPO, the EUIPO and the EPO. High-level experts will present topical issues and current developments of intellectual property law in Germany, Europe and on the international level. The discussed topics include: 
  • Prior control or subsequential enforcement – Where is copyright going?
  • Who determines what is FRAND? Aspects of antitrust, contractual and procedural law
  • Marketing of botanicals from a pharmaceutical and food law perspective
  • Recent developments regarding product privacy
  • The determination of technical facts in patent litigation
  • Data industry requirements regarding the legal framework of data rights. 

As one of Germany´s most vibrant cities, the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg – a global trade, service, media, logistics and industrial hub – will be an ideal location for the GRUR Annual Meeting, Germany´s largest IP event. The GRUR Regional Group North has put together a fantastic social programme for you, including the opportunity to visit Hamburg´s numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites and of course the fascinating new Elbphilharmonie. For the closing dinner we will take you to the Emporio Tower with its impressive 360°-view of Hamburg including Alster, Michel and Elbphilharmonie. On Saturday we offer an excursion to Lübeck with a guided tour to its breathtaking old town, UNESCO World Heritage since 1987.For this year´s conference we are expecting over 800 IP professionals from more than 30 jurisdictions.
